The Anti-Crush

There comes a time in every girls life where she realizes that a former crush might not be all that he was cracked up to be. For me, it was just the other day.

As a young teen in CT, I had a crush on a backup backup backup goalie for the Hartford Whalers. His name was Daryl Reaugh and I thought he was dreamy. I had a tiny black and white picture of him (cut out of the newspaper no less) that couldn't have been more than 1 inch by 1 inch. And of course, I tacked it up on my bulletin board that was mounted on the wall with the most direct sunlight imaginable. And so it faded. As did my crush. As crushes do.

Fast forward to 2006. Somehow, somewhere I got a link to Daryl Reaugh's blog. I had seen him once back in CT doing the color commentary for hockey for the New England Sports channel. Apparently that parlayed into a gig as the color commentator for the Dallas Stars, where he currently works and maintains a blog.

What a jackass!

So goodbye, Mr. Pompous McMullet with the Glamour Shot pose. I'm putting you, and your glamour shot, out to pasture.

Nathan Fillion

Damn he is fine. Loved him on "Two Guys and a Girl" (I know, I know -- also Ryan Reynolds -- YUM!) and most notably in "Firefly". With the release of "Serenity", seeing him on a 20 foot movie screen...well, I might just have to go back and see it again. Cute, funny, tall....my kind of crush.

Woody

Somehow when I started this blog, I thought that I went through random crushes far too often. Well, as you can see by the infrequency of my postings, I was a bit ambitious. However, I think as the hockey season draws to a close, and short of stalking Ray Giroux throughout Canada (and don't think I haven't debated it), it is time for a new crush.

This one is a bit out there -- I don't know his last name, I don't really know what he looks like (the photos are a bit vague) but he cracks me up. He is Woody, afternoon DJ and host of the Woody show on Q101. I think this will be a short loved crush, but I do like listening to his show in the afternoons.

Ray Giroux

Why do I have a crush on Ray Giroux? It is more than just because he is a hockey player. He went to Yale, seems preppy enough, and on his player profile page, he says that if he wasn't a hockey player he would be an Investment Banker. How perfect is that for me? And he is age appropriate. What's not to love?

Besides, we had killer eye contact at the Wolves game. Joan even saw it.
